YOU!
How did I meet YOU? Was it online, in person, at an Artella retreat or an art
show? I know we're connected because YOU are an Encourager reader - YOU
are part of the Square-Peg tribe.
How do you see yourself as a Square-Peg?
In many ways. YOU said that you often felt you were "different". In the way you
think, the things you are (and the things you are not) interested in. Definitely
in your priorities.
And YOU mentioned that this has sometimes been very helpful, and sometimes been
very hard.
What's been the hardest for YOU as a Square-Peg?
You hedged here because - well, sometimes life is just so darn great. But when
you thought a minute you remembered times when people didn't appreciate your
unique views - your interests and insights. People weren't always supportive of
YOU.
It seemed that finding a "tribe" came easily to others, while YOU found it hard.
This has bothered YOU a lot. But then YOU met other Square-Pegs and heard them
describe similar struggles. YOU then noted that your blend of creativity,
integrity, depth, and unique way of looking at things - would make it
hard to find similar souls - you're so wonderfully unique.
What's your favorite Square-Peg trait?
Open-mindedness! Your willingness to see things differently.
And, of course, your humor.
How do you maintain your Square-Pegness in a round-hole
world?
You've found the internet to be a great resource - no limit to how far you can
see and reach to find people with like minds and hearts. And to learn more and
find resources for almost everything, because YOU are interested in so much.
Your creativity is a huge source of strength to YOU. You've been seeing that you
use your creativity in everything : relationships, work, home, even what
you wear.
What can a Square-Peg learn from YOU?
We can realize our connections - and remember not to let the round-hole world
hold us down. Look at all YOU've done - the places YOU've been (even when those
places were not in the physical world, but in the vast expanses of YOUr mind).
Know YOUrself (and appreciate who YOU are) - if we could spend a day with YOU -
we'd be in awe.
To quote C.S. Lewis:
It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to
remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you talk to may one day
be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to
worship..There are no ordinary people.
Well, YOU are walking proof of that!
I hope YOU have enjoyed this interview as much as I have. I've learned a lot
about YOU from notes and requests you've sent in. It's a thrill to be part of a
tribe that includes YOU as one of it's members. Perhaps YOU know YOUrself a
little better than I do (well, duh - of course YOU do!) YOU might like to
journal, using these prompts, to praise YOU a bit more. YOU deserve that!!
Journal prompts:
Name 5 little-known wonderful things about YOU.
List 5 ways that YOU bring joy to your corner of the world (little things matter
a LOT - like: smiling at people, being patient in lines, hugging friends...).
What do YOU do best? (again - big or little - maybe you bake the best
chocolate cake on the block, or are the best present-wrapper in your
family...).
When have YOU felt proud? Write a little about that experience.
What was the cutest thing about YOU when YOU were little?
As always, we'd love to hear from YOU. Let us know how you liked the interview
and what you added when you journaled.
